Boating and all of the many different ways that marine and fresh waterways can be used in recreation can be very satisfying and fun. But behind all the enjoyment, it is important to remember that boating has many of the dangers of driving. Operating a powerboat, speedboat, yacht, sailboat and/or personal watercraft can cause substantial injury to other persons. It can also result in heavy damage to others’ property. While many boats can be fairly inexpensive, the average costs of even modest boats can rival automobiles. Some boats are the expense equivalent of luxury autos or even medium-sized homes. It is important that you have the financial support to handle a serious loss to your property. It is even more important that you have assistance in taking care of large claims or lawsuits involving harm you may cause to others.

Liability Coverage

Liability coverage pays for damages, other than punitive or exemplary damages, for bodily injury and/or property damage for which an insured person becomes legally responsible because of an accident arising out of the ownership, maintenance, or use of a boat. When the customer is legally required, liability coverage pays for the raising, removal or destruction of the wreckage of a covered watercraft. There are multiple coverage limits available up to $500,000 CSL.

Water Sports Coverage

(Included with Liability and Medical Payments coverages) Water Sports coverage is automatically included with Liability and Medical Payments coverages for no extra premium.

Covered water sport activities include water skiing, knee boarding, wake boarding and tubing. Unacceptable water sport activities include parasailing, hang gliding, kite skiing, or any other activity involving a device designed for flight.

Comprehensive and Collision coverage’s pay for the cost to repair or replace your boat if it is stolen or damaged in a covered loss, regardless of who is at fault. You share in this cost by paying a deductible.

With Collision coverage, your insurance company pays for damage to your boat when you collide with another boat or object. If you hit a boat, a pole or another nonliving object, Collision coverage will apply.

With Comprehensive coverage, your insurance company pays for damage to your boat caused by an event other than a collision, such as fire, theft or vandalism. If you hit an animal, or if your boat is flooded or stolen, Comprehensive coverage will apply.
